Rita Casey shows Quilts of Honor

At the Fall gathering in Corinth, Rita Casey gave a presentation on a group she started that makes Honor Quilts for veterans of McNairy County. She brought 23 of the quilts her group had made to display. The talk was both informative and touching. They presented a quilt to one of our members who is also a vet, Marcelle Bethany. The quilt was made by Vicky Blegan. It was very touching to see an honor quilt given.

Rita read this poem during the presentation:

Quilt of Honor

Quilt of Honor Covers your body, keeping you safe

Quilt of Honor Surrounds your heart, Keeping you sane

When you fall apart.

Quilt of Honor Sewn by volunteer hands, with patience and kindness

To honor this veteran today.

Quit of Honor As tears fill my eyes, Bring honor to you

when morning arrives.

Quilt of Honor with deep gratitude My words can’t express

A way to thank you.
